The state of the news media in the state of Alabama… I I’m not saying it’s much better elsewhere… But at least others obsess over adult pro athletes not college football players and their gfs.

  2. Walt Says:

Wow… seriously, Scarbinsky? That’s just horrible.

  3. Lisa Says:

    Keep it classy Bamaham!

In one instance we have the automatic, built in ready for the road Bammer excuse package on full display before the month is even out. We also notice the media’s near-mandatory slighting of Auburn (and now AU girls?). This way they can simultaneously offer reasons, rationals and plain yella(hammer?) excuses in advance before the team attempts to complete an undefeated regular season. “That Tiger gf he had distracted starting QB”. Which allows for the nasty byproduct of early media advantage via not leaving the Top 10 even with 2 losses. SEC is good, but nobody has been THAT good to have multiple 2+ loss teams still mentioned in BCS and Top10 status. The Ware Eagles offseasons points toward taking advantage of the media isolation on The Plains and refocusing on team/school identity. L.A. is kinda up for grabs, but they should be able to disconnect/decompress in the relatively speaking soft glow media cocoon at AU. Bammer is on blast, on Front st. on espn/mtv on the regular now, it wont get any easier for the 3pete once Spring ball starts……

WAR EAGLE THAT IS!!!!!! SPELLCHECK CYBORG!!!!!!!!

Take a moment and assess this situation. Who has greater marketability right now? Or put another way, between McCarron and Webb who has greater ability to make money from their skill sets right now? Webb will get a nice pay day for Sports Illustrated – that much we know. And with her looks and noteriety she can – and almost certainly will – have endorsement deals running for years into the future.

Then there’s McCarron. He has NFL potential but how many guys that have NFL potential get injured and/or don’t pan out in general?

Thus, the golddigger analogy could very well end up fitting McCarron if he could hang onto Webb long term. If they are happy I couldn’t care less who benefited financially from being with the other…but the Scarbinsky comment was out of bounds.

One, they’ve been dating for like what? A month? Three? And they’re talking about her breaking his poor weetle heart? His heart that’s hid under that hideous tattoo?? For real??

Two, gold digger? So she planned to have the camera stay on her for 15 minutes during the snoozefest of a NC just to use AJ to get famous?? What…the…crap? Like her looks wouldn’t get her anything without AJ? She could have been dating the most ugly, second string D-lineman and if they showed her on TV like that, she’d still get great press.

And three, I think it’s hilarious that they think she’s even going to stay with AJ through next year to serve as a distraction…sigh…Bammers.

  8. T-Dog Says:

Oh, and btw, great to see Cam coming back to campus!!

  9. Spencer Lee Says:

Must have taken a barrel of ink to make that tat on AJ.

And hats off to Cam for coming back to get some school work in. Not sure how much more work he needs to finish his degree but a good step regardless.

Did you see we lost that stud LB (Dee Liner)…..looks like Satan pursuaded him over to that other place !

  11. JCMac (SF) (ABD) Says:

A degree in sociology by the way. Kudos to Newton.

  12. Spencer Lee Says:

Just saw this on si.com…nice review on Gus and Ellis Johnson. In fact the si.com rotating cover story includes “All the Right Moves” with a solo shot of Gus.

JCMac, you and Cam can swap sociology data and findings. How cool. :)

Dee Liner, athetically gifted / troubled off the field…they will keep a short leash on him in T’loosa and won’t hesitate in cutting him loose. Good luck to him.

  13. T-Dog Says:

That’s okay, we got JUCO’s Marshall. To this, I say, hell yes.

  14. Ft Worth John Says:

Where are all the “legitimate” news outlets? Why are they not asking how much AUP Gogue had to pay Cam to come school?

  15. Lisa Says:

LOL! The bagman strikes again and lures Cam back to the Plains!

  16. Music City Tiger (Formerly Michiana Tiger) Says:

More infuriating was the tweet that the “newsperson” from Arkansas posted in response to Gus’ tweet about Cam coming back to Auburn to get his degree. That was disgraceful and I have a few more choice words, but I will let them be.

  17. Spencer Lee Says:

Did not see said Tweet…..what did they say MCT?

  18. Music City Tiger (Formerly Michiana Tiger) Says:

    Spencer check this link
    Especially his

  19. Walt Says:

I saw that, MCT. That was just downright horrible. That “journalist” should immediately be fired for making a comment like that.

  20. Music City Tiger (Formerly Michiana Tiger) Says:

He is trying to defend himself by saying its a personal account and not associated with the newspaper. Oh yeah, that makes everything he said all right!

  21. Walt Says:

Yeah, he said it. He represents the newspaper just by being who he is. And I’m sure somewhere in his newspaper or somewhere else where he’s associated himself with his identity as sports editor, there are links to his personal Twitter account. Guilty. Fired.

And on another note… How about this Manti Te’o story? Wow. Just… wow.

  22. Music City Tiger (Formerly Michiana Tiger) Says:

Walt, I think he initially got hoaxed, but when he realized he can use the publicity from it towards his Heisman campaign, he ran with it. Also SI and ESPN look very bad in this too. Apparently ESPN was the one who started using a random picture as his girlfriend in their reports.
