First time caller, long time lis’ner. Just dropped by to say that, as an ’07 grad, I was following this site back in the glory days of the aughts but the literal second I heard the news I thought, “My, my, if its still active, The Auburner crew be elated with this turn of events.”

    To Gorgeous Borges!

    Take care.

On a scale of 1 to 10, Mark’s excitement is currently at a gazillion!!

Naturally, the FIRST person I thought of when I heard the news was our very own Mark Paden! :) My next take was just glad to have my all time favorite AU assistant coach back on the Plains. He was the most approachable, genuinely friendly guy on a football staff that I ever met. He should be able to provide some very high quality info to the offensive staff especially regarding game planning and break down of tendencies (ours and the opponent’s) for various downs/distances…the kind of things an analyst does.

If this plays out like a normal analyst gig he won’t be working with the QBs or any other offensive players per se – that’s the job of the on field coaches. But he will bring a wealth of experience to whatever Malzhan asks him to review. But to be perfectly honest I don’t care if they brought Borges to AU to sell paper airplanes – I’m just glad to have him back.

p.s. If I see him at Burger King again, I’ll let ya’ll know. :)

….another 10 days pass by…….so does another tumbleweed…… Meanwhile, the ladies softball team hosts a Super Regional to see who goes to the Women’s College World Series (adding to the storyline is the fact this series will be the rematch of last year’s national title series – AU v. Oklahoma). Personally, I’ve seen enough of Oklahoma in any sport – except basketball. The baseball team will get things started (weather permitting) tomorrow v. Ole Miss. Winner gets # 1 seed UF, the loser goes home. AU swept UF earlier this year. Interesting times ahead for both these programs.

Beating Ole Miss and falling by same scoreline to #1 seed Florida. Hopefully the baseball team will bounce back against Arkansas.

Hoping for the same. I actually thought about walking on when I was at AU for Grad School. Always wondered how that would have turned out. A little late to find out now. :)

12-0 Ark in the top of the 8th…and Ark has a no hitter going. Looks like we would have been no worse off than if I WAS playing tonight. Yikes…. Well, we will see if their overall body of work gets them in an NCAA Regional. Would hate to see AU go from as high as 4th in the country with just 9 conference games to go only to crash and burn all the way out of the NCAAs. I really think they will get in – but I expect a 4th seed if they make it (4th being the worst you can be since only 4 teams play in each regional.

Sorry, I’ve been wrapped up in hockey for the last few weeks. I’m so happy the Preds made it! That series with the Ducks was brutal. And now, we’re a house divided. Hubs is a Pens fan.

In other hockey news, I’m quite excited the Bulls are coming back to B’ham. I hope it will help the collegiate hockey teams we have!
