Facebook recently launched an application called 'Facebook
Lexicon'. Lexicon lets you type a word and then see a graph plotting
the popularity of the word based on how often the word was typed on
the public walls of Facebook's millions users.
For
example, if you go to the application and type “finals, midterms”,
you'll see the following;
As
you'd expect, the word 'finals' has spikes in December and May while
the word 'midterms' spikes in October and February. Now that you're
caught up, it's time to have some fun;
Type
in War
Eagle and Roll Tide, then adjust the graph to show the football
season. You'll see the following (War Eagle is in blue, Roll Tide
is in orange - I added the win/loss text);
“Roll
Tide” had the biggest days on September 15 and 16. This was
the weekend Alabama beat Vanderbilt. This is also when Auburn lost
to South Florida. Which event do you think caused more people to
say Roll Tide? Of Alabama's top four spikes – three of them
came when Auburn lost a game and the fourth came the day before
the Iron Bowl.
Conclusion:
Alabama fans are obsessed with Auburn*.

the obviously obsessed guy who just spent 90 minutes creating a
chart showing the relationship between Auburn and Alabama battle
cries on Facebook.
